I thought this ad was really creative and artistic.
The hand is made up of many different hands doing different things -- eating, writing, holding the telephone, controlling the remote, pumping gas, opening the door knob, ect.
The ad is advocating the use of Dettol, a hand sanitizer.
The ad shows many hands doing all sorts of things that get your hand dirty, the hands form a big hand which looks like it's reaching up to use the sanitizer

Stores these days have ads that inform shoppers about their sales. Usually these ads are placed in magazines, regarding where the store's target market is.

This is so adorable!
I really like how Heinz demonstrated that they use real tomatoes by portraying an image of a tomato into a shape of the Heinz ketchup bottle.

I thought this ad was clever on how Adidas photoshopped shark gills on the woman.
The shark gills alludes that by wearing/using Adidas, one will swim faster.
"impossible is nothing" = shark gills on a human?

Take Clorets to prevent bad breath.
This ad caught my eye when I first saw it.
I find it kind of gross, but it's cool how they
photoshopped it perfectly into a tongue.
It's really attention-grabbing and has a clear message for viewers.

The elements for this ad is very clever.
This ad is for plastic surgery-- the cup is plastic and has a picture of symmetrically shaped nose on it that happens to match with the woman drinking from the cup.
I came across the "world's most expensive commercial" on Youtube.
This is the world's most costly advertisement and the winner of this year's best ad of the world.
it took 606 takes and re-takes to make this commercial and the total cost was $6.2 million for this 90 second commercial. (no graphics used)

One of the most places where they could place advertisements would be when someone is watching a show online.
I was catching up with Grey's Anatomy the other day, and Target was featuring a commercial every 10 minutes.
It was an interesting commercial though, Target used Christina Aguilera to manipulate/attract young consumers to their store. It was a win-win situation for both Target and Christina. She got to feature her new album, while Target used a famous celebrity to appeal to consumers
Consumers and Designer Brands: a global Nielsen report

identification: designer brands are very different in their product packaging, the packaging is a lot more luxurious than just regular brands, which catches the consumer's eyes.

convenience: there are many designer stores at the mall, and many designer products are sold at department stores (Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, ect).

consumer appeal: since the world wants to fit in with the trend these days, designer brands are really important to consumers. Consumers are usually appealed to what their favorite celebrities are wearing, and would go their way to get the same product.

prevention focus- "quit smoking today...for help call 311" The ad also provides someone as an example..."nothing will never be the same."

promotion focus- concerned with positive results. This ad is trying to prevent people from smoking, therefore, it's implicating that not smoking results in positive results.

Many ads these days use famous celebrities to attract customers.
By using celebrities, customers would most likely get the idea that they want to use the product that their favorite celebrity is using or they might think "hey! I want to look as good as this celebrity by using this product."
CoverGirl got Drew Barrymore to advertise for their make up line, this would attract teenage girls to young adults who are into the whole pop culture.
Facebook is perhaps the main source of communication and networking for college students these days.
I've noticed that Facebook started to use ads that are targeted to students attending college. Some ads would be about cheap apartments, "celebrity diet" ads, clothing apparel stores, ect.
I think this is a great way to advertise (using a major, popular source of network, Facebook) towards a specific target audience (young adults)

A friend of mine sent me this ad that was banned, but I thought it was hilarious anyway.
Advertising like this really does catch the audience's attention...it's also easier for people to remember and pass on the message to others.

As we learned in class, and how I perceive advertisements, I find advertising pretty manipulative...after all they are trying to win us over, right?
I came across this ad online and decided to analyze this ad -- how people would observe it without realizing.

Nike is using Williams, a famous athlete, to manipulate and persuade viewers to think that they can become number 1 just like her, by using Nike.
Maybe the color green can symbolize 'envy,'
note that she is also sweating and her face expression is FIERCE and her fist looks like shes ready to kill, ready for competition.
the viewer of this ad can observe the phrase on the left side, which is in the order of her ranking (going from 140 to 81 to 40), at the end she claims that she needs opponents to become #1...then of course the famous Nike slogan "just do it" seems to be making a statement.
"Just do it" with Nike, and you will be on your way to No.1
take the opposite meaning of the phrase- with Nike you will be committed, occupied, interested, in shape, prepared, become no. 1.
